4th Quarter Surge Carries Rams To Victory

Colorado State puts up 20 in the 4th quarter, led by RB Gartrell Johnson and QB Billy Farris.

Whoever watched this game saw that Colorado State RB Gartrell Johnson is a one man wrecking crew. Johnson ran for a career high 285 yards with 90 receving yards for a total of 375 yards. Johnson scored his first TD on a 1 yard rush in the 4th quarter, and then capped the game on a 77 yard run with 1:46 left in the game. QB Billy Farris hooked up with Rashuan Greer for a 69 yard TD strike that gave the Rams a 33-28 lead. The big play was when DE Tommie Hill picked off Todd Brandstater, which led to a Rams TD.

Fresno State was just not able to contain Gartrell Johnson and the Rams' offense. The Rams totaled 619 yards, with 362 yards on the ground. The Rams' averaged 9.3 a carry, and was 8-14 on 3rd down. Fresno State had 2 RB's who went over 100 yards, but still were unable to keep up with Colorado State.
