Richmond Brings Home Championship

The Richmond Spiders have won the Division 1-AA Championship against the Montana Grizzlies. The title is the first one in school history. The Spiders were the 7 seed in the playoffs, and took on the top teams in the playoffs. The trailed in their first 3 games against Eastern Kentucky, #2 Appalachian State and #3 Northern Iowa.

Josh Vaughn played a phenomenal game against Montana. He rushed for 162 yards and 1 TD. The Grizzlies only had 39 rushing yards , while Richmond had 208 total rushing yards. Montana couldn't avoid turnovers, which really hurt them in this game. Quarterback Eric Ward threw for a TD pass and also added a receiving TD in the game.

"I guess the only ones who believed we could do this thing were the people inside the Richmond program," said Coach London, in his first season in charge at his alma mater.
